I have no clue how the name of ‘bang bang shrimps’ came into existence but this is exactly how it is. It is not a name that I have made up. My guess is that this name has something to do with the mayo sauce these shrimps are served with.
It is a creamy mayonnaise-based sauce rightly seasoned with something hot and something sweet. It is an unparalleled combination of creaminess with sweet & spiciness.
It’s weekend again and I am feeling very relaxed. At least for 2 days I can forget about programming jargons and rejuvenate myself in my lively world of colors and flavors.

You may be worried about panko, but I would suggest to keep a big bag of panko at home if you are too much into fried/baked snacks. Panko is a wonder ingredient and you will agree as soon as you start using it!

What’s not to love about these beautiful crispy shrimps baked to perfection! The ingredients you need to make these bang bangs shrimps are just handful and majorly pantry staple.
You first need to make a wet batter using buttermilk and egg which are mixed with all-purpose flour and cornstarch.
Cornstarch helps make the shrimps super crispy and flour binds everything together while keeping the shrimps juicy & succulent inside.
The batter is flavored with garlic powder, smoked paprika and hot sauce which complement the baked shrimps perfectly.
You must not load these bang bang shrimps with too many spices or herbs; keeping it simple is key here!
The other important part of these bang bang shrimps is of course the bang bang sauce which is a 4-ingredient sauce which are mayonnaise, hot sauce, sweet chili sauce and honey.
The proportion of each ingredient mentioned in the recipe below is adjusted as per our liking; feel free to tweak and bring it to how you like it.
If you like it hot, add more hot sauce or else more honey if sweetness is your calling. Since this sauce doesn’t need any cooking, you can always taste and adjust it.
Once you arrive at the right taste, chill the sauce for at least an hour to get the best taste.
These baked bang bang shrimps do not take much time to cook in oven; so, I suggest you to make the sauce in advance.
When you are ready to go with the shrimps, start preheating your oven first and then get to the prep as it would hardly take few minutes.
